Welcome. I'm glad you're here.
Life isn't coming at you.
It's coming through you.
Tsawwassen, British Columbia · Author of Aletheia
"You are worthy of love. You are worthy of abundance. You are worthy of joy.
Not someday. Not once you've done more work. Now. As you are." — Jim van der Tas
Jim van der Tas is a spiritual teacher, speaker, and author whose work is grounded entirely in direct experience. Not doctrine. Not theory. Life, lived all the way through.
At the heart of his teaching is a truth that is simple, radical, and deeply liberating: life is not happening to you — it is happening through you. The experiences you attract, the relationships you draw close, the patterns that keep repeating — these are not random. They are the signal of your nervous system, broadcasting outward. When you change the frequency within, the world outside shifts to match it.
Woven through his work is an ancient understanding — that consciousness itself is the ground of all reality. That you are not a small, separate self trying to reach something divine. You are the divine, moving through human form, having a human experience. Awakening is not transformation. It is recognition. You do not become something new. You remember what you have always been.
His path began during one of the hardest seasons of his life — when he walked into a bookstore on Robson Street in Vancouver and picked up a book that cracked something open. He never quite closed it again.
Since then, Jim has returned again and again to Peru — to the ancient temples and high ceremony of the Andes — sitting with wisdom that predates language. He has traveled to sacred sites in England, and journeyed through the United States in search of the same thread: the one that runs beneath every tradition, every culture, every story humanity has ever told about itself. Each journey deepens the knowing. None of them are finished.
Closer to home, he has been shaped by a local spiritual teacher and a shaman whose guidance continues to inform his work in ways he does not take lightly.
He teaches that awakening is not a destination. It is not an escape from the human experience — it is a full return to it. That grief, wonder, desire, and joy are not obstacles to remembering who you are. They are the remembering itself.
The ancient Greek word for remembrance — the soul recalling what it always knew. This is that book.
Aletheia is for anyone who has sensed that there is more to this life than what they were told. It moves through the veil of shame and guilt we inherited, the wisdom hidden inside the world's great traditions, the quantum field that science is only beginning to articulate, and the quiet alchemy of becoming who you actually are.
At its core is one radical idea: consciousness is not something you have. It is something you are. The limitation, the searching, the sense of separation — these are not failures. They are the movement of the same awareness that is now reading these words, beginning to recognize itself.
Not a self-help guide. Not a theology. A transmission, offered with love.
"Imagine Source energy flowing through the crown of your head — into your nervous system — and projecting outward into the world you see. You are not receiving your life. You are creating it. This is not a belief. It is what you are. And the moment you stop looking for it somewhere else — and recognize it here, as you, right now — everything changes."
— Jim van der TasJim speaks at spiritual centres, churches, and ceremonial spaces across British Columbia — and increasingly beyond. Each gathering is an invitation, not a performance.
Including the First United Spiritual Church of Burnaby and collaborative events with metaphysical communities across the Lower Mainland. Each talk is a live transmission.
A living, breathing Skool community for those who want to go deeper — together. Plain language. No hierarchy. Just honest inquiry, held with care.
Jim has traveled extensively to sacred sites in South America and Europe — journeys that have offered profound clarity and insight, and continue to deepen his teaching. If you're interested in opportunities closer to home, reach out directly.
Whether you're organising a spiritual gathering, a church service, a retreat, or a private event — Jim would love to hear from you. Each engagement is approached with the same presence he brings to everything: fully, and with an open heart.
No request is too small. If it feels right, reach out.
Speaking Inquiry
Tell Jim a little about your event and what you're hoping to create. He reads every message personally.
These are living gatherings — not performances. Each one is an invitation to remember something you already know. All are welcome.
More events added as they're confirmed. Join the community to be the first to know.
Most of us were never taught that we are worthy — not as a concept, but as a lived, embodied truth. We learned to wear masks. To expect the good days to run out. To carry shame like it belongs to us.
It doesn't. And the path back is not as long as you think. Because you are not trying to become something you aren't. You are learning to recognize what you already are — consciousness itself, moving through a human life, temporarily believing in its own limitation.
That recognition changes everything. The Unforgetting is the community where it happens — together, in plain language, without hierarchy or performance.
"The only requirement is that you show up as yourself."
Opening Soon
The community launches in the coming weeks — alongside the release of Aletheia. Leave your name below and you'll be the first to know.
Sometimes the shift happens in a single conversation. Not because someone tells you what to do — but because you finally feel safe enough to tell the truth about what's been running underneath.
If you're ready to look honestly at what you truly feel about yourself — whether you believe you're worthy, whether you think joy is really available to you, whether there's something you're still holding yourself hostage over — this is the space for that.
There is no script. No agenda. Just presence, and whatever wants to arise.
Inquire
Send Jim a note about what's calling you. He reads every message and will be in touch personally.
Whether you're drawn to the book, the community, a speaking event, or simply want to reach out — Jim reads every message and responds personally when he can.
Your nervous system shifts when you feel truly seen. Your shoulders drop. You breathe easier. You smile more, laugh louder. That's not a metaphor — that's what happens when you stop carrying what was never yours to carry.
No question is too small. No wondering is too early.
You don't have to have it figured out to begin.
